You just don’t hear bands like Sigur Rós. After their world-tour they came home to perform free, totally unannounced concerts in Iceland. This two-disc film, translated “at home” or “homeland,” is a combination of concert footage, experiential film montage, and documentary.

There I was, sitting on my couch watching this DVD, and experiencing what seemed like something, dare I say, heavenly. They were technically proficient as usual, but the projection of both striking and subtle details on location in
The film is amazing. Watch it. I sat mesmerized in a my living room, lights down, sound up, the cadence of concert, countryside, interview, and back to concert footage.
The single drawback of the film is that the sound quality varied quite a bit from concert to interview. This meant turning the volume way up to hear the barely audible interviews, and then turning it back down during the concert footage.

What a great band. I would love to see a specific “worship” music type movement devoted to this kind of concept – experiential. I need to track down this DVD. For seriously.
